Recent economic research indicated that the visitors and exhibitors who attend the Messe Dusseldorf trade fairs contribute largely to the general economy of the City of Dusseldorf. "Without us, Düsseldorf would most likely not be debt-free" said President and CEO of Messe Dusseldorf, Werner M. Dornscheidt, proudly. The benefit the city has is that since the trade shows are very international, visitors tend to stay in Düsseldorf longer than just one day. International visitors spend much of their money on local transportation, restaurants and hotels.
One American event organizer commends Dusseldorf as being the "Ten Minute City". All central landmarks such as the Messe Dusseldorf fairgrounds, the Dusseldorf Airport, and the city center, can all be reached within 10 minutes. This makes Dusseldorf one of the most attractive Trade Show Cities in the world.
In addition, Messe Dusseldorf is a large contributor of job security in Düsseldorf, providing 16,051 jobs through the trade fairs and congresses it organizes on a yearly basis.
