|It’s high time for the dreaded spring/summer cleaning and a good opportunity to make space in the closet for much needed new shoes! Whether sandals, sneakers, loafers, boots, flats or high heels, this season has hip footwear for everyone. People are as individual as their shoes and want to stand out from the crowd.
Not only women are looking for the trendiest style but more and more men are getting bored with buying the same shoes just because its “easy” and kids are definitely not shy about letting their parents know what they want – a challenge for retailers who have to continually update their inventory to fit their customer’s tastes.
The perfect place to see what the next season has in store is GDS - Global Destination for Shoes and Accessories, showcasing the latest shoes styles and accessories from July 30 – August 1, 2014 in Düsseldorf, Germany. With earlier dates and a new concept, GDS will be the kick-off event of the season, featuring product, brand storytelling and shop-in-shop concepts, allowing buyers to get an overview at an early stage to to get all the necessary information for their orders. And the new private label focused event – tag it! will be held concurrently (July 29 – August 1) to address the international manufacturers and resellers of shoes and accessories with a focus on private label production. These two events will be an interesting international meeting place for everyone involved in the footwear sector to see the latest trends, get inspired and exchange ideas with colleagues.
With the revised exhibit hall layout, the upcoming GDS will be especially exciting. Instead of many different segments there will be three big Shopping Worlds: “HIGHSTREET-THE MODERN PULSE”, covering the spectrum from modern and sporty to traditional and wellness-focused and also including kids’ clothing and accessories, “POP UP- THE URBAN GROOVE”, a lively marketplace for trendy street wear and “STUDIO - THE PREMIUM NOTE”, presenting sophisticated shoe fashions from the minimalistic to the glamorous. In each of the three worlds, visitors are also guided through the “Highlight Route” – a defined path that leads them past exhibition stands, special product presentations, fashion shows and events.
In addition to all the returning companies, this new concept attracted many first time exhibitors to GDS and attendees can look forward to the footwear creation by labels such as Lacoste, Gant Footwear, Marc O´Polo and Napapijri Footwear in HIGHSTREET, Replay, Ria Menorca, Velvet Red, Original Penguin and Me & Macs in POP UP and Patrizia Pepe, Barbour Footwear, Porsche Design, Jil Sander Navy and Shades New York in STUDIO. The Brown Shoe Company will also premiere at GDS with their brand Naturalizer.
The fashion city Düsseldorf itself will roll out the red carpet with the new “OUT OF THE BOX” Festival for Footwear and Accessories, inviting GDS and tag it! participants to celebrate along with retailers, restaurants and cultural partners on August 1. From 3:00 pm to 10:00 pm, fashionistas and shoe fans can enjoy special events and entertainment in Düsseldorf stores and on the city streets. Special exhibitions and lectures, customizing activities and workshops plus events in galleries, bars and offsite locations all all part of the program.
Join the “fashion circus” and experience what the varied, colorful and surprising world of shoes and accessories has to offer. GDS and tag it! are trade only events and free entrance passes can be ordered online at www.gds-online.com and www.tag-it-show.com.
